Abstract :
The study aimed to prepare AmrtabhallatakaGhrta.(G) with standardized plant material, develop its analytical profile and evaluate its learning and memory activity in regularand memory deficient rats. The macroscopical and microscopical features were studied and found as given in the monograph of Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia for SemecarpusAnacardiumL. Physicochemical parameters were evaluated and located within the standard limits for the plant. After this, the Shodhana process was performed to purify the nuts. The prepared Ghrita was analysed by evaluating parameters like Acid value, Saponification value, Iodine value, Peroxide value, Refractive index and Viscosity. The solvent system for HPTLC was developed by performing TLC. In HPTLC, 12 spots were seen, with the Rf ranging from 0.02 to 0.94. In pharmacological evaluation, the ABG was found to reduce the Transfer latency time (TLT) in the elevated plus-maze model and Escape latency time (ELT) in the Morris water maze test when compared with the standard control group in the Acquisition trail duration (day 0 to day 6). The ABG was also found to reduce the Transfer latency time (TLT) in the elevated plus-maze model and Escape latency time (ELT) in the Morris water maze test when compared with Scopolamine treated group on the seventh day after all groups received scopolamine.
